What to expect at Bowman Backyard

Bowman Backyard is an intimate, seated listening-room experience—set in a backyard under the stars. Our shows are designed for those who truly want to listen.

You can expect a respectful, attentive audience, where conversations pause when the music begins and the focus stays on the songs and the stories behind them. This is a space where songwriters are heard and audiences are fully present.

Shows are typically solo or stripped-down performances that highlight original music and storytelling. Seating is limited, creating a close, personal connection between the artist and the crowd.

Guests are welcome to bring their favorite beverages and snacks, relax, and settle in for a special evening of music, community, and shared moments. Whether you’re a longtime fan of live music or experiencing a listening room for the first time, you’ll feel right at home.

Come expecting great songs, honest stories, and a night that feels more like a gathering than a concert.

How a show night works

  1. Get your ticket

Tickets are sold through Eventbrite, right here on the site. Prices are set by the artist, and 100% of the ticket goes to them.

  2. Watch for the gate code

24 hours before the show, the gate code is emailed to the address on your ticket. That’s your key to the backyard.

  3. Come early, settle in

Doors open an hour before showtime. Bring your favorite beverage and snacks; we have the tables, the chairs, plenty of parking, and heaters for cool nights. Say hello to the artist, find a seat, and get comfortable.

  4. When the music starts, the talking stops

That’s listening-room mode: conversations pause and the songs take over. You’re welcome to get up quietly, move around, or make a drink. Sets usually run about an hour and a half.

The practical details

Where is Bowman Backyard?

In a backyard on the north side of San Antonio (78260). The exact address is on your Eventbrite ticket, and the gate code is emailed 24 hours before the show to the email address you used to buy it.

When should I arrive?

Doors open one hour before showtime so there’s time to settle in, socialize, and mingle with the artist before the music starts. The music starts on time.

What should I bring?

Your favorite beverage, any snacks you’d like, and your best friend. We provide the tables and chairs. There’s no bar — it’s bring-your-own.

What’s a “listening room”?

A show where the audience is there for the songs. Conversations pause when the artist is playing. You can get up, move around, or make a drink — we just ask that you keep it quiet while the music is on.

What about parking, restrooms, and cool nights?

Plenty of parking right at the house, restrooms available, and patio heaters when the fall nights turn cool. Dress for an evening outdoors.

What if it rains?

Shows go on rain or shine. If the weather turns, we have the space to move indoors.

Where does my ticket money go?

To the artist — 100% of it. Ticket prices are set by the artist. Eventbrite adds its processing fee at checkout, which is why the total is a little more than the ticket price.

How long is a show?

Generally an hour-and-a-half set, usually a solo or stripped-down performance of original songs and the stories behind them.

When are shows?

Our seasons run in the spring and fall, when the backyard is at its best. Follow us on Eventbrite or join the email list and you’ll hear about every show.

Can I get a refund?

Tickets are sold through Eventbrite; each event lists its refund terms. If you can’t make it, you’re welcome to pass your ticket to a friend.
